Bib, Bag and Pouch - a Baby Set

All made out of scraps. Oh, I love tiny scraps of fabric! So many things you can make out of them and at the end you are left with a lovely feeling of achieving something really good. For all the three things I have made I did not cut into any new fabrics, I only used the scraps from my box, apart from a tiny piece of Milk, Sugar and Flower - a cute kitten on the pouch.

I am happy to say that this "Baby Set" was made together with my Baby. He sat in my lap while I sewn all the colourful pieces together. It was a bit tricky and my Little One almost ate a scrap of cotton, but otherwise it was great, though it made me rethink the safety of my sewing corner. That's something I have to work on.

Once the bib was ready, I felt like making a matching bag for food supplies on the go. So I made this drawstring bag, using my bento drawstring lunch bag tutorial, but this time I added a lining that is also a casing for the cord and made the bag a bit taller so I could fit packs of baby food easily.

I added a touch of hand stitching to all the three things. In bright red cotton. A couple of kisses and love hearts here and there.

Once that was done, I thought that it would nice to have a matching case for a dummy as well. I was going to make a triangular pouch, just like one of these. You see, I gave one away and the other one, that we used for our dummy, got lost somewhere on a street.

I am not sure what when wrong with that idea, whether it was the new plastic zipper that was a bit too bulky or a bigger size of the pouch, but I did not like the look of it and instead turned it into a flat boxed pouch that I quite like. And the good thing is that it fits three dummies instead of one. A new set of buttons was a perfect match for this project. I call them "happy buttons". Little clouds, stars, flowers, apples, whales, teapots... in pretty bright or pastel colours.
