A Little Exercise or Colour Therapy

It was a pile of old issues of Home and RealLiving magazines that was collecting dust and taking up some space for a very long time that I saw on Friday afternoon in my sewing nook. These magazines are full of interesting decorating ideas, living spaces solutions, great finds, handy hints and other stuff like that. But most of all they are full of colour. I was going to see if I could find some inspiring pictures for my sewing projects and then throw most of the magazines away. But instead I decided to give myself a little exercise.

While flicking through the pages, I realised that I was mostly attracted to colours, not the pictures of objects themselves, maybe because of the pain I was experiencing at that time, my mind was somewhere else. So I thought what if I flip through the pages and pay attention only to colour combinations that would captivate me. Armed with a cup of tea and a pair of scissors (a great work out for my left hand again!) I sat comfortably and began my colour therapy. It was interesting! I had never done this before. You look and see only colours ignoring anything else, any other details. Quickly I had a pile of small cut out pictures that looked like that put together.

Tutorial: Teeny Weeny Handmade Sewing Labels

A very simple, quick and fun way to create your own teeny weeny labels for things you sew or just to satisfy that sewing and creative urge. So easy, that it can be made with one and a half hands. :-) Literally! All you need is scraps of fabric, I prefer linen or linen and cotton blend, some embroidery floss, a stamp or two, buttons and your imagination of course.

Fabric Stash: Small Additions

I stayed at home for almost a week after I fractured my wrist before I was comfortable enough to go out. So when the pain settled a bit, I went for a short stroll. I needed a permanent fabric pen, so it was a great excuse to pop in to our local craft store that has a fabric section as well. How lucky! I got a little treat for myself along with the permanent pen I was looking for. If I can't sew, it doesn't meant I can't buy fabric. Right?

Great News

I just have to share my great news with you. I am so happy! Truly, I am! I went to see the surgeon and got wonderful news - I don't need a surgery. Hooray!!! Little by little, my wrist/hand/arm is getting better. I can straighten my fingers now and it feels great. Like a stretch you get when you wake up in the morning. There is no strength in them yet and they look like yellow sausages, but I am getting some control back and can hold something as light as a cookie or a Twix finger. Oh! It feels so good to be able to have a cup of tea and use my both hands! It still hurts but not that much really.

I had to get a new, fancy fiberglass cast (for the next four weeks) that is breathable and waterproof as well. Yay!  It's so light and, I have to admit, comfortable after that huge and bulky plaster one, and it makes me feel safe when I am out and about. And how cool the colour is! It's my favourite. So I should say I am twice lucky. :-)

Thank you all so much for your lovely, kind wishes and for finding the time to visit my little world. It warms up my heart and means a lot to me. Thank you!

Hope your day brings you some great news too! Larisa xo

The Things We Love... Can Hurt Sometimes

Hello, my dear friends! I am really happy you are here. You might have noticed that I never write about anything apart from things related to sewing on my blog, I especially don't write about my personal life. It just happened that way, but today I am going to make an exception because the event that took place on Saturday is going to affect my future sewing. At least for a while.

Cute as a Button or Stamps Everywhere

Look what I have been playing with! Stamps and ink, buttons and fabric snippets. If I spent a bit more time at my desk the other day, I would've stamped everything around me, that's how much I enjoyed doing that.

New Exhibits at the Gallery

Welcome to my tiny Artist Trading Cards gallery again!  I am happy to present you a new exhibition called "Spring". As you might know, I am participating in Very Berry Handmade Artist Trading Card Swap 3. I have completed three cards and I think I am ready to stop now. Even though I was supposed to make only one card, I could not help myself and made three. I just love working on small projects, playing around with fabric scraps and tiny stitches.
