Liberty Splash

So colourful! So cheery! This is my first encounter with Liberty Lawn. I was surprise to see how light and delicate these fabrics are but at the same time a pleasure to work with.

I was really lucky and thrilled (I hardly ever win anything) to win Ali's at VeryBerryHandmade giveaway not long ago. A pack of six liberty fabrics and a pack of liberty hexagons (fabric and paper). I just love how Ali packed everything in small ziplock bags. It's so neat and convenient.

When I received the package, I was tempted to check out all the fabric hexagons at once, to see all the pretty patterns. But I decided to stretch the pleasure and took one piece by one from the two small stacks from the bag. Each time I took a pretty piece to be basted, I discovered a new beauty underneath. So many lovely surprises!

I basted all 70 pieces, but there is a BIG question now. What should I make using all these hexagons? I want to make this and that and this again, I simply cannot decide at the moment. Any suggestions, Girls?

While the Liberty splash is left for some time, I have a few projects going on. Some simple baby knitting, mini cross stitching, some sewing as well and one more exciting project - Artist Trading Cards Swap run by Ali at VeryBerryHandmade. I signed up for the seventh round and I am already thinking on a few ideas. The theme for this round is "My Favourite..." Let's see what I can come up with this time, not a very easy choice. Happy creating! Larisa xox

  1. Oh, I'm so jealous that you won, Larisa, but absolutely thrilled for you, at the same time! What a brilliant idea, looking at the hexagons over a period of time to extend the pleasure! I would never have the patience to do that. The resulting splash of Liberty lawn is so pretty that it won't matter if you don't do anything but gaze at it.

    1. Thank you, Dina! I could not believe it when I got the letter from Ali about me winning. I had to stop myself a multiple number of times not to go through all of the hexagons at once and it was absolutely lovely to see the final result. I am still simply looking at all of them and enjoying it.

    1. Oh, I have not thought about a cushion. Thank you, Sharon! I do like all these pretty hexagons to be on display too one way or the other.

  3. Maybe a couch cushion so you can enjoy those happy pieces of Liberty every day. Melissa at oh how sweet has a tutorial for a zipped sewing case that you could use a hexie panel for the cover. So many possibilities for hexies!!!! Yay for the win!!!

    1. Thank you for the idea, Gina! I checked out Melissa's tutorial. I should give it a try one day and hexagons would be perfect for the panel. I am still just looking at my Liberty splash. :-)
