Valentine's Makes

Even though the Valentine's Day is well and truly over and a few decorations that we had hanging around are already packed away till the next year, I felt like sharing the things I made with you.

This year I made an activity countdown. Just 14 small envelopes with cards inside that read something like "Enjoy a pink milkshake today" or "Make chocolate covered strawberries" or "Bear hugs all day long for everyone"... something very simple and sweet. I have to be honest and tell you the truth that we did not complete all the activities (life had other plans on some days), but whatever we managed to do was fun and we can always try and do it again next year. I enjoyed making the paper envelopes in pretty colours and decorating them with fabric and paper hearts.

We enjoyed some delicious raspberry caramel chocolates packed in special Belle & Boo boxes. A free printout especially for Valentine's Day from Belle & Boo.

I also made a couple of Love Heart coasters. I just played around with a pen and some embroidery floss until I was happy with the shapes and the patterns of the cross-stitched hearts. My favourite part is the three little "kisses" in the top left corner.

Making the paper envelopes for the countdown gave me an idea to make this framed piece. The envelopes, the teeny weeny hearts and the miniature stamps are made with fabric scraps, so as the XOX, and attached on a pretty paper. You can see how tiny the stamps are in the top photo compared to pins.

Sometimes little kids enjoy the process of setting things up for a game more than the game itself. I think this turned out to be true for me with the Valentine's Day this year. I enjoyed all the fun preparations, but then the day just slipped away as many other days do now. I hope you have lovely days despite heat or cold and enjoy crafting. Larisa xox

  2. So fun! My mom did something similar one summer, making envelopes of pretty magazine paper. We didn't get to all the activities either, but we all remember the fun we had, and how Magix we thought Ma was, since she knew how to make her own envelopes!
