Winterly Coasters

Bright red rowan berries covered with a cap of white sparkly snow. Isn't it a perfect sign of a late autumn or an early winter and the most magical thing ever? To me anyway. There is something wonderful and festive in a combination of white and red, rowan berries and snow.

A pair of handmade coasters that will make a lovely gift I think. A single cluster of fire red berries on natural linen. A new cross-stitch pattern that was inspired by the sketch below that I used for some hand embroidery a while back.

I used German Zweigart Cashel Linen for the embroidery and for the back of the coasters fabric from the Westminster range by Fabric Freedom (England), the print that was inspired by mill engravings of the 19th century. So intricate and whimsical and even though the design is not winterly, it still reminds me of winter for some reason.

One more small tick on my To-Do list of unfinished or long time ago planned projects. Right on time in preparations for Christmas. Hopefully I can avoid the usual last minute crazy rush this year. Have you started getting ready for Christmas? Are you sewing or crafting anything? Or is it still too early for you? Larisa xox

    1. Gina, thank you very much! Your comment makes me blush, I am so far away from an artist. But I am happy with the way the rowan berries turned out in cross stitching.

    1. Thank you, Dina! I like the simplicity and "emptiness" of the design.
