Sweet Crafting

Last minute finishing touches before Christmas. I am so glad we were right on time to complete our first ever Gingerbread House before Christmas Eve. Oh, how much happiness and fun it was to work on this project.

My not So Little Son said to me: "Mum, it's not sewing, but still it's crafting. It should go on your blog." :-) It took us a couple of days from start to finish to complete the house. First we made a cardboard template, then we made the dough and baked all the panels. The most interesting bit here was the stained glass windows, pink on the front and purple on the sides. It gives a very special look to the house, especially if you can put a small light inside.

Then we went shopping and bought sweets for decorating the house. M&Ms, marshmallows, mint candy canes, strawberry liquorice with white chocolate, hundreds & thousands and pearly tiny balls. Step by step we created our own design, adding some dots here and swirly lines there, until there was nothing else to add apart from icicles and snow. What a fantastic feeling to see such a happy lovely house! The only thing is that no one wants to eat it now... we all feel sorry to pull it apart. :-) At the moment we are happy to just look at it and smell it. Yum!

Wishing you all, my dear readers, a wonderful Christmas filled with joy, happiness, peace, love and plenty of sweetness! Larisa xox

  2. Making a gingerbread house is one of our favorite traditions, but we have never made it from scratch. Great job decorating and I have to agree that it is oh so fun!!!

    1. Thank you, Gina! I think it might become our family tradition too. It was so much fun. We even managed to put a small light inside after all. It was so pretty. A couple of days ago we finally "demolished" the house and it turned out to be delicious. Hope the year started on a good note for you and your family.
