Sweet Mini Fridge Organiser

I just love small cute things and I love keeping everything tidy and organised. Over the last few months I have been slowly reorganising things around the house, reducing the number of items we buy (including fabric and sewing notions) and simplifying and beautifying everything.

I usually keep a small calendar on the front or the side of our fridge and some drawings of our Little One. I also keep a small pad of sticky notes on top of the fridge for an easy access when I need to write a shopping list or a quick note, but quite often all the incoming letters, notes, shopping lists... mysteriously pile up on our kitchen bench if I don't sort them out right away. So I really wanted to do something about that. I kept thinking of how to organise that and decided to make something different and came up with this simple and sweet mini fridge organiser.

The inspiration for it came while I was working on something totally different and I had a pile of Heather Ross prints on the side of my working table. I put the pink Kona Cotton and Tiger Lily along with Briar Rose pieces together and they just spoke to me. Everything else was put aside and I kept playing with my stash trying to find all the bits and pieces to complete this project. Heather Ross fabrics are sweet and cute on its own and they do not require the addition of too many details. So I settled on just one fabric stamp that I received as a gift from a friend, a handmade ribbon and a few tiny stitches and of course a few small kisses.

I used magnets for this organiser that are nicely hidden and won't scratch the surface of the fridge. They are strong enough to hold a few large letters and some papers, pens and notes that all fit in three large pockets.

I also put a large paper clip to hold some notes so that they can be visible if needed. I used to be scared of working with binding, but with time and practice I have learnt a few simple tricks that make this process really easy and even enjoyable. I really like how this pink striped fabric works with all the prints. A very simple, cute and fun mini organiser that is going to be useful for my small family and hopefully help us keep the kitchen bench free of all the paper. Let's see how it works!

Happy inspirations and happy sewing! Larisa xox

  2. Such a lovely idea Larisa. I have been simplifying and decluttering this year too (and have also been reducing what we bring in, including fabric!). I'm looking forward to getting to the beautifying stage soon too. Thanks for sharing your lovely creations. Merry Christmas, Kelly
