Tutorial: Baby Book

Hello my dear friends! Today I would like to share with you this darling little make that I was planning to write a tutorial about for over five years. When my LO was born, I made him a simple baby book that he still finds amusing, and sometimes reads in bed.

What I like about this make is that you can pick any fabrics for this project and make up your own story, you can make as many pages as you want, and you can even include some of the old baby outfits in this book.

This book is really quick and easy to sew and fun to "read" with your little one especially at bed time. The cover of the book is soft, but the pages make a soothing crinkling noise when scrunched up that will keep your baby amused.

Instead of doing the usual photo tutorial, I have prepared for you a video step-by-step tutorial that you can find on my YouTube Channel.

So let's gather all the materials we need and make this sweet baby book with crinkling pages that your baby or toddler will love to play with for years.
Things you will need: • Two 3½" x 5½" pieces of cotton for the front and back of the book • One 8" x 5½ piece of cotton for the inside of the book • One 2" x 5½" piece of cotton for the spine of the book • Eight 3¾" x 5" pieces of cotton for the pages • One 8" x 5½" piece of batting • Two 7" x 5" pieces of plastic bag from cereal • Heat/water erasable fabric pen • Tiny scrap of fabric for the heart • Brown embroidery floss • Sewing supplies
Important: This book can be made in any size, so you don't need to be precise with the measurements. Just go with the fabrics you have.

Make sure to keep your plastic on top when sewing the pages and hold it firmly with your fingers to stop it from sliding. This book is absolutely washable! Just pop it in a small wash bag with your washing (I use cold water). Please DO NOT IRON the pages with the plastic insert! The plastic will melt and your book will be ruined.

  7. it's absolutely heartwarming! As someone who appreciates the art of preserving memories and cherishing milestones, I found your tutorial to be both inspiring and practical.

The concept of a baby book is something that holds great sentimental value for many parents.

  9. Great video - lovely project - so well explained. Thanks so much for all your efforts to share this with us. I added an extra double page - just squeezed it under the foot of my machine! It looks super. I´ll definitely be making more of these for my grandchildren.
