Birch Tree and Little Birds

A good friend of mine gave me a small present last year, a very simple but adorable desk calendar with birch trees and little birds on its branches. The minute I saw it, I fell in love with the simplicity of the drawing and the pastel colors of the birds. I knew right away that one day I would use this idea somehow somewhere. When the time came, it took me only two attempts to decide on the fabric that I was going to use, the color of the thread and the technique itself. I wanted to keep the lines of the embroidery as simple and delicate as the ones of a pencil sketch. The final result - a cover for a small notebook.
