An envelope, a pencil, a few stamps and a lovely note. "Patchwork, Please!" by Ayumi Takahashi inspired this little project. I was going to try out a smaller version of an envelope paper pieced block featured in this book before making something bigger. The envelope turned out really cute...

Cooking Notes
Do you like cooking or baking? I do. Very much so, especially when I have spare time and the weather is cool. I am always on a lookout for some new quick and easy recipes and new ideas. I tend to bring home a new recipe from places we travel to. Just like the one for muffins (they are truly the best!) I pulled from a local Queenstown newspaper three years ago when we went skiing there.

Friendly Hedgehog
It's been a while since I made any notebook covers. Projects like that marked the beginning of my stitching adventure a bit over a couple of years ago. Back at that time I made quite a few fabric covers with embroidery for notebooks and diaries as Christmas gifts. It feels lovely to go back to the same ideas with new skills learnt, with new techniques acquired and with more confidence than ever before.

More Notebook Covers
Just a quick stitching note - two more notebook covers that were finished quite a while ago but did not get a chance to be photographed at the time. This one is a digital pencil sketch of my not so Little Boy when he was really little.
The one below is a copy of a photograph from a very old newspaper that my grandma kept for years among some of her precious things because the photo of this little girl reminded her of me for some reason. So as you can see the covers have a bit of a sentimental touch to them.

Notebook Cover Finished
Remember acorns?
It took me such a long time to complete this small project. The stitching was finished more than a month ago but the sewing process took much longer than expected. Well, the actual sewing took less than half an hour but getting my hands on this piece of work took a while. With so many ideas running through my head every day and so little time available for my hobby it's hard not to get distracted. But now it's done and ready to be sent away.

Birch Tree and Little Birds
A good friend of mine gave me a small present last year, a very simple but adorable desk calendar with birch trees and little birds on its branches. The minute I saw it, I fell in love with the simplicity of the drawing and the pastel colors of the birds. I knew right away that one day I would use this idea somehow somewhere. When the time came, it took me only two attempts to decide on the fabric that I was going to use, the color of the thread and the technique itself. I wanted to keep the lines of the embroidery as simple and delicate as the ones of a pencil sketch.
