When I started making the blocks, I had many questions about finishing this quilt but they all got answered along the way and the quilt turned out to be very colourful and joyful. I was trying to pick my favourite block but I could not, I like them all.
For the back of the quilt I decided to use plain white cotton, so the backing won't take the attention away from the colourful front of the quilt. The binding of the quilt is white too and quite wide, more than 5cm but it frames all the small squares perfectly.
I hand quilted it with Gutermann quilting cotton in seven different colours only on white squares. Oh, and that cute tiny baby bunny is a gift from the Big Brother to the Little Brother. So very sweet!
I wish I made a small baby pillow too. Well, maybe one day I will. But for now we love snuggling up on Papa's or Mama's arms in this quilt and dozing off peacefully with the evenings being cooler now. Have a wonderful week everybody!!! Larisa xox
It is so beautiful Larisa, there are some lovely quilts out there in blogland, I have one cut but it has sat for a year now in the bottom of the wardrobe, I have so much on the go but hopefully I might get to it later this year! Sharon x
ReplyDeleteThank you very much, Sharon! It always amazes me how talented, creative and patient some people are, the quilts they make are stunning. It seems like we all have enormously long to do lists. I am sure you will finish your quilt one day.
DeleteBeautiful and will become a family heirloom I am sure.
ReplyDeleteThank you very much! I hope so. :-)
DeleteSuch a sweet quilt and such pretty colors!!! Smart work on your part to finish before your little bundle arrived as it is hard to find time (energy) to sew with a new little one. Hope you are settling in to a new routine and getting a little sleep at night!!!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much, Gina! I do like all the colours together and I am so happy I finished the quilt before the baby arrived because it's not easy to find time for any large projects now but I don't mind. We are doing quite well and at the moment we are getting some good night sleep. Hope it lasts. :-)
DeleteIt's so cheerful and full of life, it will give you all many years of pleasure. Glad you are a bit cooler now, were warming up during the day but frosty mornings.x
ReplyDeleteThank you very much, Carole! It's so much better now that the weather is cooler here. Autumn and Spring are the best seasons in Australia (to me) with cool mornings and evenings, and pleasantly warm days.
DeleteNo wonder your Little Bundle of Joy loves snuggling into his quilt, it's been made with love in every stitch.
ReplyDeleteThank you very much, Dina! I really enjoyed making this quilt from the very first to the very last stitch. :-)
