Work in Progress: Sooo Slow

I think I am going to repeat myself for the thousandth time, but I do need some extra free time. Is it only me who cannot manage sewing with a baby around or some of you feel the same way? But anyway, let me show you just a few little things I am working on. First up is this Mousey Mouse item. It is so much fun! I used my Reverse Appliqué Tutorial that you can find here for this project. There going to be a bit more appliqué and some embroidery and maybe even quilting involved. I am really enjoying working on it. The progress is quite slow not only because of the time limit, but also because I am designing it as I go. I started with one idea and quite soon changed the direction, I am adding small bits and pieces, just a few stitches at a time. So let's wait and see where this Mousey Mouse is going to end up.

The next project, two baby bibs, is finished and already is given away as a small gift. I am going to show you the finished bibs soon. Why is it still a work in progress then? Because I am writing a quick tutorial for these pretty appliquéd cherries.

The next project is very peaceful and relaxing after a day full of constant running around. I am going to make two more hexagons for now and turn all four of them into something. You will see what hopefully soon. I saw beautiful English paper pieced hexagons made by Carla of Half Dozen Daily on her Instagram feed and I fell in love with them. With each new hexagon Carla made, I got more and more convinced that I wanted to make some. So I ordered an electronic copy of "The New Hexagons" book by Katja Marek. It's great. Carla wrote a review of it, that you can read here. The electronic version is great, you get your book instantly and it gives you an online access for pdf files with the templates. I love Carla's tip on how to get the paper pieces out once you stitch your hexagons together. You can read it on her blog here.

This one is all about RED. There going to be some neutral and grey and green colours as well, but mostly red. I am very excited about this project and cannot wait to show you once it's all done. I just hope that it turns out as good as I see it in my head. The squares are 1.5"x1.5", but once they are stitched together, they are only 1"x1". So far I have cut out about 350 pieces.

There are a few other small projects that I am working on at the moment, but the progress is sooo slow, that I am even afraid I won't finish them at all. Or will I? Have a wonderful weekend! Larisa xox

  1. I feel like I didn't do anything creative at all when the children were tiny so you are amazing to accomplish what you do - it's frustrating when you're full of ideas and have so little time though! I'm really looking forward to seeing how your WIPs turn out. They all look beautiful as usual.

    1. Catherine, thank you for your support and encouragement! It means a lot to me. Truly! Frustrating is the right word for how I feel at times, but I remind myself that it will all pass and one day I will have plenty of time for sewing, but I will miss my Mousey Mouse bing little. :-) Thank you!

  2. You are obviously making excellent use of any snatched stitching moments. It's an intriguing selection of projects...

    1. I am trying, Dina, by neglecting loads of housework sometimes or so much needed sleep. Who cares about washing or cleaning when there is some sewing to be done? :-) Thank you for always being here, Dina! xox

    1. Thank you so much, Carla! That's exactly what I am trying to do, a few minutes here and few minutes there, between playing, feeding, rocking, cleaning, washing, dozing off... I know that one day I will have all the time I need, so now I am trying to enjoy this crazy busy time as much as I can, but it does not always work. :-) Hope you had lovely Easter.
