Making Pouches

It's always fun and you can always find a use for a pouch, large or small. They are useful for storing some sewing notions and projects you're working on or they can simply make lovely gifts. Do you see that little bunny hiding in tulips? Isn't he cute?! I love Sarah Jane's collection called "Sommer". It's pretty, delicate and whimsical. These pastel colours are very sweet and soft, and make me think of the best summer ever. A summer full of joy and sunshine, butterflies and berries and of course pretty flowers.

This particular print has been on my shopping list for quite a while. I fell in love with the bunny when I saw this fabric for the very first time and I could not wait to sew with it. It's soft and almost airy, but still very easy to work with. I love making flex frame pouches, they are great for everyday use, easy to open and fit quite a lot of small items. I find the installation of a flex frame much easier than any other type of closure. The process of choosing the matching prints, ribbons and lace, tags, buttons and any other details always fascinates me because quite often it leads to some new ideas and inspirations. Soft pink embroidery floss, a strawberry button and this tulip label were my top picks for this particular pouch.

The label is quite big and looks wonderful on its own on the back side. I added just a tiny bit of stitching around it and two teeny weeny kisses. The side tag has some writing on the back and on the front it has the cutest little bunny.

The second pouch was totally designed for this lovely deer. This particular print "Fawn" by Hawthorne Threads was not on my list at all. I was looking for something completely different online, but came across this wonderful cotton. I knew straight away what I wanted to make and I had all the details ready in my mind before the fabric even arrived.

The little mushroom button I got from Ministry of Fabric was an absolute match for this foresty theme. Just a tiny touch of hand embroidery - a few lazy daisies and some spikes of grass to match the fabric. I also made the zipper charm with matching muted colours. Linen is always my choice number one fabric for almost anything I make. I absolutely love the way it easily combines with almost any print and lets you add some stitching.

On the end note I am going to put just a few links to where I like to shop. It always helps knowing nice places to get your supplies from and these shops are simply lovely.

Have a wonderful week! Larisa xox

    1. I would highly recommend this, Dina! These frames are easy to install and great to use. My pouch is made as one piece (there is no separate sewing of the frame casing), quick and easy. I miss your blogging, Dina. Hope you are still sewing, knitting, crafting and doing well. xox

    2. I've added the project to my "To Do" list! Thank you for saying you miss my blog. :) I don't know why, but it just doesn't feel like 'me' at the moment.

    3. I hope you get a chance to make one, Dina. I think you will really enjoy it. Cases for spectacles or sunglasses is a great project for a flex frame.

As long as you are happy and well, that's ok I suppose. I keep checking your blog hoping to see new posts. :-) Just enjoy what ever you do, Dina and stay well. Sending warm thought and kind wishes your way. xox
