Mice Invasion

I am not kidding... They invaded all my sewing nook, they took up my time, they messed up some of the pretty fabrics. It was so bad that they even nibbled on some of the felt that was meant for a soft toy I was making for my Little One! These mice were so sneaky and cheeky, but I have to admit they are super cute.

My not so Little Son got a new phone for his birthday not long ago and, as before he asked me (Wow!) to make him a phone case. It just happened that at that time I was working with felt and was working on a project from a book "Scandinavian Stitches" by Kajsa Wikman. I have had this book for quite a while now, but only managed to make small hanging houses. But this time around these mice just jumped at me and asked to be made. So I made a zipper pouch, just like in the book with yellow background. The next day I made one more with a pinkish background. They turned out so nice! These cheeky mice are easy and quick to applique. Then I made this phone case. I used 100% merino wool felt which is perfect for this case. I appliquéd the mouse using free mashing stitching and then stitched the sides of the case with a running stitch by hand.

A few days later I decided to make a phone case for myself, but mine had to have a girl mouse of course. So I gave her a dress with a bow and some lace. My not so Little Son chose the fabric for the dress and I could not agree with his choice more. I think it suits her very much. I also added a tail this time. It's such a fun project! I could see myself making more and more of these mice, but I had to stop myself so I could continue with my other projects.

And as for the felt that these mice nibbled on, it's true. I got so carried away that I forgot that I needed a large piece of felt for the back of a felt toy I am making for my Little One. I chopped it all up for the phone cases. Hehe... So had to do a little shopping. Have a wonderful day! Larisa xox

    1. They were, Dina! But as much as I dislike (or should I say hate) real mice, I absolutely adore these ones. They are so quick and fun to make! xox

    3. They are, but I have a phobia of real mice when they run near me. Anything else photos, drawings, embroidery...I find very cute indeed. My not so little son saw me once jumping up and down and screaming my head off when I saw a tiny teeny mouse running near our garage. He could not stop laughing at my wild reaction. :-)

    1. Thank you, Joanna! I had a lot of fun making these items. I enjoy taking photos (setting things up) almost as much as sewing things. :-)

    1. Oh yes! They turned out so nicely and I just love how easy and quick they can be made. Using felt for the head gives it a lovely texture too. :-)
