I really like all these prints, it was a small charm pack that I found in a shop some time ago. It's such a happy and sunny combination of cute animals, stripes, letters and warm colours. I am making a small gift for a very special baby boy and creating new cross-stitch patterns along the way.
Since I can't really use scissors at the moment, I had to use my rotary cutter. I had to hold the ruler with my right elbow in place while cutting the fabric with my left hand. It was fun! I managed to make a box full of different pieces even though it took me a few days. I told you, I became quite inventive operating with one hand only. Hehe...
Have I mentioned that I used to knit? I don't like to brag, but I used to be really good at knitting. I was seven years old when I became friendly with wool and knitting needles. Oh, it seems like a hundred years ago. I used to knit scarfs, hats, mittens, gloves, jumpers and even dresses. Really? Did I do all of that?? Today I am making something tiny and very Spring like. I am sure it was my colour therapy that sent me in the direction of these beautiful fresh colours. I had to adjust my knitting technique as well and do most of the moving with my left hand while holding the right one still. Yay! It worked!
These are just a few things I am making at the moment, I am trying not to think of all the plans I have made for myself, otherwise I get too overwhelmed and can't concentrate on anything. I am just happy that I can hold my favourite needle in my wonky fingers again. Wishing you all a wonderful and creative week full of sunshine and warmth! Larisa xo
You are making progress! I love the projects and colors you are working with!!! I am left handed and always seem to be making adjustments as some things in the sewing world are not lefty friendly; I can use my rotary cutter with my left and right hand. I made a label using your tute this past week and can't wait to make more!!!
ReplyDeleteI can only imagine how many things you have to adjust, Gina. I struggled a lot with the presser foot and the wheel of my sewing machine. My scissors almost refused to work in my left hand. Are there even machines for left handed people?? I am sure it would make their lives much easier.
DeleteI am so excited you made the labels. Hope the tutorial worked out well. I would love to see them, I am sure you came up with some creative additions. Thank you, Gina, for your support! xo
Love your cut out scraps, can't wait to see what evolves. The little animals and children are intriguing too. Well done you for not being defeated with your gammy hand.x
ReplyDeleteThank you, Carole! I thought I would be able to survive without sewing for longer but two weeks was all I could bear. I call it my "early intervention or physiotherapy" and I am sure it helps speed up the recovery. :-)
DeleteAll those scraps look very interesting. I wonder what it is that you are making? I'm pleased for you that you are able to manage some stitching and other crafting.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Dina! Everyday I get happy and excited that I can again do something new/old - hold an empty cup, cut some bread, use tiny scissors. It feels so great!
DeleteI truly can't wait to show you what I am making with all the scraps. It took me such a long time to finally decide on the pattern for the item. It has most of my favourite fabrics and I would be able to see it every day. :-)
