I found a teeny weeny button in my stash to hold the liberty bow in place. The button is really tiny, less than a quarter of an inch in diameter. I am not particularly happy with the shape of this pouch, I think it can be improved a bit. You see how the top of the pouch seems wider than the bottom? I forgot one important thing that I need to make a note* of for myself.
For the label on the back side of the pouch, I used a small piece of linen in a slightly lighter shade. I stamped it a while ago just as a test but kept the piece anyway, it definitely came in handy.
So now I am off to do some shopping. Not really going to any shops but simply looking online for these frames. I will have to wait a while for them to be delivered but it will give me more time to get some projects done on my list. Happy sewing everybody! Larisa xox
* Note to self: for a pouch with a boxes bottom, use a trapezoid shape pattern.

So cute, I have never sewn with those clasps, one to try :-)
ReplyDeleteThank you, Sharon! They are really easy to sew, and the frames are very easy to install. There are so many ways you can sew a little pouch like that. I used only small frames, about 10cm long though and they are great, easy to open with one hand.
DeleteVery sweet pouch! Interesting note about the ratio, I think I agree, for another version, though this is perfect just the way it is.
ReplyDeleteThank you very much! So much to learn and experiment with. :-) It looked good while I was sewing it, but once all the stitches were finished the Liberty part did not open wide enough. I could not bring myself to rip the pouch apart and start all over again. Now I have to wait for new frames to arrives and improve the pattern. :-)
DeleteI have been wanting to try out a flex frame opening too!!! The Liberty is beautiful and I think the inverted pleat was a great idea! The sweet stitches alongside the liberty add a lot too. I am sure you will perfect the process once your new frames arrive!!!
ReplyDeleteThey are great, Gina! You should, it's very easy and so many ideas you can implement. I could not help myself, had to add my favourite running stitches. In pink. Can't wait for the frames to arrive, wish they came with some "extra free time" as well. :-)
DeleteThis is beautiful, Liberty and linen go so well together. Your critique of your own work is very positive and we can all gain from your experimenting. I definitely want to try these frames now, have seen a few ideas using them and this is the best, love it.
ReplyDeleteThank you very much, Carole, for your complement! I am so glad to share whatever I learn on my sewing adventure with others and to inspire creativity in any way. These frames/locks are the easiest to install and the sewing is not that tricky, and pouches made with them are a pleasure to use. Have fun sewing!
DeletePS I love the way you style your photography!
ReplyDeleteThat's a part of the fun and a learning curve as well! :-) Thank you, Carole!
