I bought a set of three kitchen towels in beautiful bright, fresh spring colours. Two of the towels (the white and green) I used for the hot pot holders and the third one (the pink) I am putting as a gift set together with the holders. Simple and nice.
I was surprised at how easy it was to sew the pot holders this time around. Everything worked well from the first attempt, even the most scariest thing - the bias binding - worked out well. I am still making it just a bit too wide, to give me extra room for stitching but I can see a great improvement in going around the corners and making straighter seams.
This is one of the projects that I am going to feel sorry to be parting with in a way. It must be all the happy spring colours that attract me so much in this fabric. Only after I started my sewing adventure some time back, I realised how much I love green colour. Even though I have nothing in green colour in my wardrobe, I am still surrounded with a good bit of green and I love working with green fabrics. I think I am ready for the Spring that is literally just around the corner, it's been a long and quite cold winter this year and I am looking forward to some warmer, sunny days but not too hot though. Fussy... I know. :-) Have a wonderful week everybody! Larisa xox
Lucky lady! I'd be afraid of getting them dirty though as they are so lovely!
ReplyDeleteThat's a good thing that I made them as a gift and not for myself because I would definitely keep them and not use them for this reason. :-)
DeleteThey are very pretty and would be so nice to take dishes to the table.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Carole!
DeleteWhat a lovely gift for the someone special.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Dina!
Deletepink and green is definitely one of my favorite color combos. This is a gorgeous gift that i am sure will be used often and the recipient will always think of you when she uses the pot holders. i think mixing some store bought and handmade together makes for a wonderful gift!!!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Gina! Pink and green is truly beautiful and so fresh! I like the idea of mixing old and new, handmade and store bought, I think it gives a nice touch to a gift sometimes.
DeleteI also love how you make pressies look so special!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Carole! To be honest, I do enjoy packing/wrapping/tagging presents. And sometimes even save some of wrapping I get along with gifts. :-)
