I made a small gift for myself. Selfish, I know, but this is something I really need. Take along stitching/sewing kit/folder. I could not wait to test my newest creation and was totally and absolutely happy with the outcome. The folder is firm enough to hold its shape so I can easily carry it in my bag. There are enough pockets for all the supplies I might need while working on my small projects and it's very cute thanks to Woodland Walk fabric by Belle & Boo.
I have to admit that it took me a while to find two matching fabrics for this print. I had many combinations to choose from but I am happy I stopped on the lilac and check ones. Have you noticed the matching pincushion? It can be easily detached when needed. There are a few pockets for embroidery floss and bobbins and some other small accessories. Do you like the pocket for scissors with a snap flap? I love the tiny deer and the hugging friends.
The folder has a pocket for a small notebook for notes and sketches. There is a space for a pencils or a special fabric pen. I added a loop lock for the embroidery hoop so it won't slip out of the pocket, and of course there are plenty of little pretties.
The stitching of the tree stump and the sleeping bunny is from a sketch I made a way back while working on illustrations for poems written by my Mum. It was a poem about forest creatures falling asleep at night. I thought it would be a lovely match for the Woodland Walk fabric.
So now I have my very own stitching folder that I can take with me anywhere I go. The padded cover of the folder works as a working mat as well and can be used on my knees or on the dining table. Hope you too have some cute accessories that make your creative process even more enjoyable. Happy stitching everybody!
This is fabulous! One of my sweet Australian friends sent me a scrap of the Belle and Boo.
ReplyDeleteThanks! I am a big fan of Belle & Boo. Absolutely love Walk in the Wood print.
DeleteThe fabrics make a good match! Love the design of your stitching folder. I made a needle book for myself but also wanted something small to hold all of those little things you need close by without having a big sewing basket in the way. This one looks really useful for that, and cute, too!
ReplyDeleteThank you Jeanine! Just yesterday I was thinking of making a small needle book to match the folder since it's not very practical to keep all the needles in the pincushion. Otherwise, I am finding the folder to be very useful. Let me know if you have any questions, would be happy to help if you decide to make one. :-)
DeleteI love this folder, the fabric is beautiful and your tree stump is gorgeous too. I love all the little pockets as I always have so many bits and pieces when I'm embroidering! Thank you for sharing the link x
ReplyDeleteThank you for stopping by and for your comment! This folder is very useful and holds everything I need for my embroidery on the go. And it easily fits in any bag as well. :-)
Deletelove these fabrics and the little embroidery, the result is absolutely lovely....
ReplyDeleteI am a big admirer of Belle & Boo. The embroidering part was really fun, quick and easy.
DeleteJust perfect! I dream about stitching folder :D this one is lovely!
ReplyDeleteOh, thank you so much! This one is really easy to make, even without the flaps it would be quite functional. :-) I enjoyed making this folder a lot and still use it when doing some embroidery.
