I felt a bit intimidated by the binding, you have to understand that this is the longest binding ever I had to sew by hand. But thanks to my little helper - "finger hug" rubber thimble, my finger was not sore at all and I finished it all in a matter of two hours while watching the Olympics. A tiny tag was added for that final finishing touch.
The back of the quilt is plain white. I am not that brave yet to choose something more colourful but I will get there. I tried my best to do the hand quilting, or should I simply call it running stitches that I added inside the blue squares only, and around the quilt on the white border. Do you read instructions first and then procede with your work, or do you jump straight into action? Well, I am a kind of a girl who cannot read instructions. As simple as that. Pretty much never. Same thing happened this time again. Only after I finished the quilt, I got curious and did some search on hand quilting techniques. I found a few great tips and videos. So now I am better equipped for my next quilt I think.
I am excited and happy with my first ever real quilt. I know, there are quite a few things that could've been done in a better or more professional way but I like it the way it is. I am still learning and making mistakes is perfectly normal, as long as I learn through them.
