Fabric Stash: Useful Scraps

I bought some scraps. Yep, fabric scraps. Two bags full of small bits and pieces and a few bigger offcuts. Oh, and a few handmade buttons as well. These scraps are not something that you might want to call delicious or pretty. These are upholstery and furnishing fabric scraps. Mostly screen printed linen and hemp. Not my usual choice of fabric but something that might be used quite creatively I think. I was hoping to find some medium weight linen for my envelopes at that particular store, but found this instead.

A very kind person in England let me know about the sale at that store, all the way across the ocean here in Australia. How funny is that! Well, thank you very much Dina! Once I got back home, I went through the treasure bags and this is what I turned one of the pieces I found inside into. Ta-da!

A small clutch with a magnetic snap fastener that I made using the fabric envelope tutorial. Very simple! A handmade clay button goes nicely with this rough fabric. I just hope it lasts.

Quite unexpected but very useful finds. And a great challenge as well since I have never really worked with upholstery fabrics before. Let's see what else I can make using these scraps.

Happy stashing and creating everybody! Larisa xo

    1. I can't get enough of sewing really. My wrist is almost as good as before when it comes to sewing, but not that good when it comes to cooking though. :-) The clutch happened on a spur of the moment, really like the pattern of this fabric.

  3. Your clutch looks lovely - I really like the two fabrics together. Those little brown paper bags hold all sorts of delights, don't they?

    1. Thanks, Dina! The clutch turned out much better than I anticipated. I like when projects just happen without any planning. Hope I can use the rest of the scraps productively and creatively.
