What Do You Think?

Unexpectedly I had to spend last Monday at home, there was plenty of house work available for me and waiting for me, just for me but I chose this instead. Too hard to resist some lace, linen and silk, threads and the soothing sound of the sewing machine. I am sure you know what I am talking about.

The influence for this creation came from HomeSpun magazine. There was a very short article, a snippet really, along with a large photo of a pillow. Here it is.

When I saw this pillow for the first time, I fell in love with it. I was surprised because it's not really my style, not something I would consciously choose. But here it was, in front of me and I really liked it.

So on Monday I flicked through the magazine not looking for anything in particular and once again saw the pillow. A few minutes later I had this...

...and this in front of me.

I got absolutely absorbed in the creative process for almost two hours trying to work out the best and most appealing way to me of arranging all the bits and pieces. It was so therapeutic, so calming. I felt content. And this is what came out of all of it. Oh, and I managed to do a bit of washing, baking and some other non-essential things around the house along the way. Yay!

I am not sure yet if I want to keep this pale pink rose with leaves in the top left corner. And it's very tempting to add some stamp prints to it as well. So now I am just waiting and still thinking.

What do you think? Do you like it or maybe not? What would you do with something like this? Turn it into a pillow? Maybe a wall hanging? Or just put it away till some other day? I would love to hear from you. Larisa xo

  1. Love ir! I'd keep it as a wall hanging. It's just the sort of gentle calming play I like to indulge in - why don't I do it more often? You have inspired me to get my bag of bits out and have another go as even if the finished article isn't for anything in particular it is a wonderful therapy.

    1. Thank you very much! I am truly glad that my work inspired you today. It indeed was a wonderful therapy session for me with a lovely end result that does not have any particular purpose really. But I just love looking at this piece of appliqué as it does have a calming effect on me.

  2. I have something similar to this, or along the same lines, that hangs in my bathroom and it has a Bible verse in it. Your chiffon flowers are gorgeous! I think you should hang it on the wall!!

  4. I agree with all the other comments, its beautiful and subtle with a really calming effect. Myself I would not include the pink, it seems to draw the eye away, and would use it as a wall hanging, definitely not to be put away but somewhere to be seen and 'felt'x

    1. Thank you, Carole! I agree with you about the pink flower. Now, seeing this appliqué on the photos and reading all the comments, makes it easier for me to decide. The pink does draw the eye away and cause a bit of a conflict with the yellow.
