I made a quilted lining in Shell Pink and I reinforced the exterior with Vilene iron-on interfacing. It gives the tote a more puffy shape, exactly what I was looking for.
A small label inside and a pocket, just a few details to give the tote some character. The handles are made of raw heavy weight linen, the same that I used for the pretty tags. The back side of the bag is made of medium weight linen.
I really like how this summer tote turned out. I couldn't help myself adding one of the strawberries. I just love how it dangles while you walk with the tote.
Have a great weekend! Larisa xo
I am so in awe of your neatness and your finishing touches, Larisa. It's lovely.
ReplyDeleteDina, thank you very much for your comment! To be honest with you, I still surprise myself with my patience when it comes to sewing. :-)
Deletenow that is a darling summer bag!!! What are the dimensions of the bag? Did you make up the pattern? is the back the same as the front; i know you said the back is a medium weight linen but it looks like strawberries wrap around to the back? I am full of questions today :)
ReplyDeleteThank you very much, Gina! You are full of questions and that's great. :-) Yes, I made up the pattern, it was adjusted along the way. The back is plain linen, the same as the front middle panel (but I think the strawberry back would've been even better but I felt sorry to use up this print). The size of the tote is approximately 20cm (hight without the handles) by 20cm (width) and the bottom is 20cm by 10cm. I should've taken more photos to make it clear.
